Motor Insurance

Of all the insurance products on the Irish market, motor insurance is perhaps the most contentious and most varied in range of premium and conditions.
It is probably the most visible form of insurance in that it affects so many people across the broad spectrum of society from the young driver through to the old age pensioner.
Motor insurance can be a major financial outlay in a family where the parents together with their sons and daughters need independent transport. Motor insurance is also of course compulsory by law unlike many other forms of insurance which are optional.
Recent changes to the Road Traffic Act have added a more strict interpretation to the rules where young drivers can be in control of car unaccompanied on a provisional driving licence. These changes have heralded a consequent impact on insurance premiums and also serious implications for cover in certain circumstances for young people which heretofore was a grey area under the law.
